Prayer Needed: Don's Recovery

Good afternoon All!

We are on a roller coaster ride.

Don entered the hospital in Bend, Oregon for a below the knee amputation on Tuesday afternoon April 3rd. All went well and Don was discharged. We went home to Christmas Valley the afternoon of Friday the 6th. Wow! We have a lot of new "furniture" in the house (wheelchair, walker etc).

At 10:30 pm the night we returned to Christmas Valley, Don began having pain and developed a fever. By 7 am he was on an Air Flight plane to St Charles Hospital in Bend. Evidently during the amputation surgery, Don's blood pressure dropped and resulted in an injury to the outlet of the gallbladder. It sealed off and the bile began accumulating in the bladder causing an infection. A drain tube was inserted into the enlarged and infected gallbladder and he will be rechecked in two weeks to see if the gallbladder recovered to its normal function.

He will be here in the hospital for several days, as he is battling the infection and fever. His surgical leg is doing well.

How you can pray:

1. For healing and recovery of Don's gallbladder

2. Regain his strength and begin the rehabilitation and prosthetic adventure

Our dear friend Tim Warkentin of Christmas Valley, and NLM board member for many years was diagnosed with inoperable stage 4 abdominal cancer the same day of Don's surgery. Tim and Don have been in the hospital together and been encouraging and praying for each other. Please pray that God's hand of healing will touch both men who are wonderful men of God.

The Lord gave me two scripture verses the day of Don's surgery and hearing of Tim's diagnosis:

Proverbs 10:25 When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, but the Godly have a lasting foundation.

Matthew 7:25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse because it is built on bedrock.

Christ has been our cornerstone and the bedrock of family and friends have been our foundation. Our children have been wonderful and the Christmas Valley Community and Mirror Pond churches have been very supportive. Many prayers are going up from around the world for these men and we praise God for what he has planned for both of them in the coming days. Whatever may come, we know that it is only for the glory of our Heavenly Father.

In His Arms,

Ilene (and Don of course)
