IBB - PREPARING

PREPARING - Instituto Biblico Baja (IBB)

Timothy 2:15  Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

Instituto Biblico Baja

officially opened its doors October 2006 through the vision of Ramon Ross Rubio and through the support of NLM. The mission of IBB is to prepare (II Timothy 2:15) men and women for the work of the ministry as Pastors, Lay Leaders, Missionaries, and Evangelists to reach Mexico and the World for Jesus Christ.  Of the graduating students

2 are pastors in established churches

5 are missionaries in state of Oaxaca

2 are missionaries in Madras, Oregon

3 are church planters

3 are interns working a year of internship before taking ministry positions

IBB now has Extensions in the state of Oaxaca in Chalcatongo, and in Mitla, Oaxaca to preparing believers desiring to prepare for the ministry. A graduate of IBB, Diego Gutierrez is the instructor. He and his wife Luz Elena are both graduates of Bible Institutes. Diego and Luz are also missionaries with Mission Ventures International, a mission dedicated to taping the written Word into audio form for the indigenous peoples of Mexico.  They travel to the states of Veracrus, Guerrero and in Oaxaca, Mexico, training people to read the Scriptures in their own language and then record the Word of God in audio.  (See more about Diego and Luz at Supporting... Missionaries and Church Planters)

On the map below Baja California is #1  and Oaxaca is #31.  The distance from Papalote to Chalctongo, Oaxaca is around 2000 miles.

Wycliff (Institute of Linguistics) has spent a half a century translating the written New Testament in many languages in Mexico.  However, the indigenous culture is an oral cultural not a written culture.  People learn through listening and very few read.  MVI is dedicated to get the Word into an audio format, dramatizing the stories, to bring the Word of God to the people.

Papalote is uniquely located in an agricultural valley where indigenous men and women form the majority of the workforce coming from states that lack work opportunities (such as Oaxaca).  These workers often come from Oral Tradition backgrounds (speaking a traditional village language) rather than from Spanish speaking families.

These men and women are open to the gospel and desire to return to their native villages to share the good news of the saving power of the gospel of Christ... but they must be prepared and sent.

Generation 1 grads     Generation 2 grads

Our job does not stop there..   We continue to support them through communication, prayer, sending support teams to minister to them, and make available continuing education at no cost and through some financial support that comes from men and women and churches who desire to partner with these servants of the Most High.

On-going Ministry Experience and Internships

All students are required to be involved in ministry during their schooling years.  We then attempt to give each ministry student an opportunity for internship for one year following graduation to further prepare them as potential pastors and missionaries.  We have found that this experience has promoted tremendous spiritual growth and matured them in the Lord.

Life Skills Training

Life skills

Skill training is an important element for many of the students. Included in their education is an opportunity to learn skills to help financially supplement the needs of a ministry family. (Construction, plumbing, electrical, welding, etc.)  We have found this to be a critical element in the preparation of ministers and missionaries who will have few resources and little financial support in the vocation into which God has called them to serve.
